48 hours later we delivered 22 slices of (Freshly baked) thick cut bread, lightly toasted, made from 40mm polystyrene profile cut to shape with a painted crust. Full colour printed graphics applied to each side to give it that golden, toasty finish... even Mr Hovis would be proud!

A big move for South coast sign company

It really is 'BigStuff' for the Southampton based sign company. Over the past 4 years business has soared, so much so that the dynamic company have moved to their new purpose built unit based in Parham Drive, Eastleigh, which is 4 times the size of their previous site in Empress Rd Industrial Estate.

The move is essential to the continual growth of the company as well as being centrally placed on the M3 and M27, said Jim Foster who is joint Director of the company. We had outgrown our unit long before it was time to move, occasionally we had to rent the vacant unit next door to house our work, continued Glenne Wheeler.

We have timed the move perfectly, thanks to the help of Wessex Interiors, and are now ready to bring in our new machines enabling us to increase the turnover of work, giving us a real kick start into 2008!. READ MORE

The big, just got bigger!

After endless viewings and tests BigStuff have finally bitten the bullet and got the latest machines on the market to really speed things up. They now have the new additions to the BigStuff family in and working and things are certainly looking up.

"Our decision has been made on 2 factors, quality and speed and we have found the perfect balance between the two." Glenne continues, "The Mimaki JV33 and the Epson 11880 fulfil both our needs. Quality is a the forefront of our business and if we can produce quality products at 4 times the speed that we do presently, everyone will be happy!"
The move to the JV33 was a natural progression for the Jim and Glenne, the joint directors. "Our Mimaki JV3 has been a workhorse, and we've certainly given it a pounding. We've run it day and night for weeks on end to meet the deadlines of our customers. The HP 5500 has been the market leader for years and when we bought ours on ebay to start our business we had full confidence in such a machine. The Epson just pipped its rival the HPz6100 to the post. We just felt that the Epson had the edge over the HP and we'd heard there had been a few teething troubles".

"Now the machines have been running for 6 months, with have nothing but praise for them both. The JV33 is a awesome piece of kit!! Its so much faster than our JV3 and the quality is faultless. The release of compatible materials have been very slow so its not running to its full potential at present. We also need to push the fine art side of the business a much harder towards art houses and galleries. The canvas printing is fantastic but we await the release of some really specialist papers. Until then we'll continue to run high quality prints for showroom displays exhibitions and point of sale. The pigment inks have come on a long way in the last few years, so the colours are really vibrant and have a greater longevity, even in the bright sunlight of a shop window".

Its now down to us to get out there and show current and prospective clients just what these beasts can do... we know they'll be impressed with the results!
